Dolphin Bay Divers Retreat beach pano 1170

Hidden in a small bay, surrounded by a white sandy beach, coconut palms and rain forest, Dolphin Bay Divers Retreat is a short 20 minute boat ride from Taveuni, the garden island. It is 10 minutes away from one of the top ten dive destinations in the world - the famous Rainbow Reef and it boasts over 20 dive sites. Snorkel or swim with the turtles, trek up the mountain, do nothing and let our amazing Fijian crew take care of you.

Since we are only accessible by boat, our little hideaway sets the scene to vacation, to holiday, to rest, to bring an end to all the noise and sip a glass of wine while swaying in your hammock feeling the soft breeze, or to laze at the beach and watch the clouds go by or luxuriate with a relaxing massage while listening to the gentle sound of waves lapping on the shore. End your day with a delightful dinner on the beach.

On Taveuni you can visit the local villages and get to know the real Fiji, its history, culture and its people. Enjoy coastal walks, rainforest treks, explore waterfalls and the waterslide and of course visit the International Date Line where you can straddle both yesterday and today! In the evenings, settle on the patio and watch the sun set over the Somosomo Strait.

Dining and our Meal Plan
Our chefs, Agela and Maritina, prepare all our meals from scratch with fresh local ingredients and Risi bakes absolutely delicious homemade breads and mouthwatering desserts.

Since we are very remote and there are no other choices for meals our reasonable meal plan is all you can eat. We offer a Full Plan or a Light Plan which include a breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Of course, fresh brewed coffee, tea, water and snacks are available all day long.

From simple questions like was a fish caught today? Or are tomatoes or avocado in season? Our daily meals are shaped based on the availability of particular foods combined with requests, desire and creativity in our mix of Asian, Fijian, European and Indian dishes. If you have any dietary concerns kindly talk to us at time of your booking –we are able to accommodate most requests here.

After diving you should rest… well we like to.....

Whether you are staying at the Retreat or at Yanuyanu, Taveuni Island is beautiful to explore. Our drivers on Taveuni enjoy touring and giving you insights into the people and places on Taveuni. You can arrange the trips when you get here or book them in advance.
Our favourite day trips:
Bouma National Heritage Park
The Bouma National Heritage Park is a protected area covering most of north-eastern Taveuni. The park is full of great natural beauty and diverse ecosystems and a number of options for walking and hiking.

Tavoro Falls
Wainibau Falls Taveuni Island Fiji sm

Tavoro Falls is a series of three waterfalls within the park, the first of which, Bouma Falls, is the highest (24 meters), most spectacular and just a gentle 10 minutes or so walk from the Visitor Center. This is a perfect spot to while away a few hours with a picnic and swimming in the cool refreshing waters of the splash pool below the falls. For the adventurous you can climb behind the falls and experience the curtain of cascading water right before you, and maybe take a leap from here into the pool.

Further up the trail lie the second and third falls. The second has a drop of 15 meters, and the final falls 10 meters. The upper trail can be tricky if wet, but panoramic views over the rainforest and out across the Somosomo Strait and of neighbouring islands are a remarkable sight to behold, plus the absolute peace and tranquility of the environment. Allow approximately 3 hours for the full hike.

Please consult with your resort or the Visitor Center to confirm the conditions– additional guides are available.
Deciding to take a day to be treated to gorgeous coastal views, Taveuni’s best beaches, lagoons, lush rainforest and a suspended swinging beach is the second best decision next to diving the Rainbow Reef.

At the end of the scenic 5km Walk, part of which is in the Bouma National Heritage Park you’ll end up at Wainibau Falls (pronounced “wye-nim-BAU”). The swim-up waterfall is a 10-15m drop and is situated behind a calm and clear plunge pool lying mysteriously behind a little gorge. Climb up the waterfall and discover more crystal clear pools and weather-worn boulders.
